Tap into your Inner Peace through Meditation

Meditation is a 4th state of being apart from waking, sleeping and dreaming. It draws from a higher state of consciousness which activates grey matter and increases the neural pathways to the hippocampus, the area of our brain that governs the limbic system which is responsible for our emotional responses. Meditation helps to bring us from a state of stress to inner peace by bringing alertness to the silence within. It has been clinically proven to help with depression, anxiety, stress levels and loneliness, meditation helps us connect with and expand into the positive energy within.

When we focus on the positive our thinking patterns shift and that causes us be feel lighter energy. Wherever you put your mind to is the form the body assumes, if your thoughts carry negativity then the body holds tightness and tension. As long as the focus is on the positive your energy carries at a higher frequency which creates an openness. Looking at empty space in nature help us to clear our mind, visualize the vastness of the sea or sky, how does that make you feel? Just that picture can make us feel more calm.

Meditation takes us from movement to stillness, from sound to silence. This is very restorative as it ignites our inner peace and brings us deep sense of contentment. Here is our favorite meditation techniques to bringing an inner clarity.

Sitting in a comfortable seated position with the back straight, notice your normal resting breath. Starting at the base of your spine just notice how you feel rooted and secure in your body. Move your attention to the following points on each of the 7 Chakras, cycles of energy:

  1. Base of Spine
  2. Pelvis Centre
  3. Navel Centre
  4. Heart Centre
  5. Throat Centre
  6. Eyebrow Centre
  7. Crown of the

Bringing your attention to the central spinal column you will feel your energy circulate your thoughts begin is dissipate. Picture that there is a thread that runs from the base of your spine up to the top of your head and beyond. As you begin to feel the vibrations of your breathing and body, bring your attention to the eyebrow center. Visualize a large moon in front of you and slowly let it shrink and concentrate on a tiny point between your eyebrows on your forehead.

From here bring your awareness on each sense organ, acknowledging their role and then granting them permission to relax as you draw your attention inwards. Guide your attention in the following order starting at the eyebrow centre:

  1. Eyes
  2. Nose
  3. Mouth
  4. Skin
  5. Ears

Then move your attention to your heart center, coming back to that open and vast energy. To be open is to live in wonder and feel that positive vibrations of your energy. The flexibility in thought will lead to an open body, as your body is always renewing itself influenced by the mind. Meditation sets our intention on infinite peace, once we can connect to it in ourselves we are able to inspire peaceful relationships with others.
