Marcel began his yoga practice in 2012 after sustaining a knee injury from skateboarding. Yoga physically and mentally helped him fully recover and further created more stability and space within his life. Recognizing the power yoga had to prevent injury as well as recover from it, his
interest increased in intensity as he began to uncover the vastness of yoga and where it had originated from. In 2014, after taking a power yoga class at Yoga life in Cape Town, it inspired him to deepen his self-practice and knowledge of Yoga.
Two years later he went to India and it was there at the AYM Yoga school that he took his first 200-hour teacher training in the mountains of Rishikesh. It was here that he took a deeper interest in Eastern philosophy as well as anatomy.
In 2018 he decided to take Patrick Creelman’s 200-hour teacher training in Hong Kong. Through the study with Patrick, the transformation inspired Marcel to fully commit to building a path in yoga and to help people experience an incredibly powerful change in body, mind and spirit.
His teaching philosophy is one that aims to establish the link between breath and inner self through the practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation. He focuses on correct alignment while using the breath as the guide to explore the body and mind.
He draws from a variety of yoga styles and incorporates them into his own practice and teaching. Through Marcel’s yoga class, he wants to help students increase mobility and strength but with the goal of leading them to a sense of inner peace within the busy city of Hong Kong.
